Privacy Policy
How the Gary S. Maxey Network collects, uses, and protects the personal information you share with us.
Last updated: September 2026
A note on this page: this policy is a good-faith working draft prepared to give visitors a clear, honest account of our current data practices. It has not yet been reviewed by a qualified Nigerian lawyer. Before this policy is treated as a final compliance document under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023 (NDPA), we recommend it be reviewed by legal counsel — particularly to confirm the Network's registration obligations, if any, with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC).
Who we are
The Gary S. Maxey Network ("the Network," "we," "us," or "our") is a Christian interdenominational missions movement based in Lagos, Nigeria, convened in partnership with the West Africa Theological Seminary (WATS). This policy explains how we handle personal information collected through garysmaxeynetwork.org and its related forms and channels.
Information we collect
We collect personal information only when you choose to provide it to us, through:
- The Contact form — your name, email address, phone number, and the content of your message.
- The Giving enquiry form — your name, contact details, and information about how you'd like to support the Network (a one-time gift, recurring support, or in-kind giving).
- The newsletter sign-up — your email address, and optionally your name.
- The WhatsApp Community — if you join via our invite link, WhatsApp (operated by Meta) shares your phone number and profile information with the group according to WhatsApp's own privacy policy, not ours.
We do not knowingly collect sensitive personal data (such as health, financial account, or government ID information) through these forms, and we ask that you avoid including such details in free-text message fields.
How we use your information
- To respond to enquiries sent through the Contact form.
- To follow up on giving enquiries and arrange the practical details of a gift with you directly.
- To send ministry updates, news, and event information to newsletter subscribers.
- To maintain a record of correspondence for our office's internal ministry administration.
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information to third parties for marketing purposes.
Third-party processors
Our Contact and Giving enquiry forms are built and hosted on Cognito Forms, a third-party form platform that processes and stores submissions on our behalf. We encourage you to review Cognito Forms' own privacy policy. Our WhatsApp Community is hosted on WhatsApp/Meta's platform and governed by WhatsApp's privacy policy. We do not control how these third parties process data beyond the information we submit to or receive from them.
Cookies and analytics
This website does not currently use cookies, tracking pixels, or web analytics services. If that changes in the future — for example, if we add analytics to understand site usage — this policy will be updated in advance and this section will describe what is collected and why.
Data retention
We retain personal information collected through our forms for as long as reasonably necessary to respond to your enquiry, maintain an ongoing giving relationship, or fulfil the purpose for which it was collected — or until you ask us to delete it, whichever comes first.
Your rights
Under the Nigeria Data Protection Act 2023, you have the right to:
- Ask us what personal information we hold about you and why.
- Request that we correct inaccurate information.
- Request that we delete your personal information, subject to any legitimate reason we may need to retain it.
- Withdraw consent to further contact, such as unsubscribing from our newsletter at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with the Nigeria Data Protection Commission (NDPC) if you believe your data has been mishandled.
To exercise any of these rights, contact us using the details below.
Children's privacy
Our website and forms are intended for adults and are not knowingly directed at or used to collect personal information from children.
Security
We take reasonable steps to protect the personal information shared with us, including relying on the security measures of the third-party platforms we use. However, no method of transmission over the internet or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time as our practices, forms, or legal obligations evolve. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page reflects the most recent revision.
